Fahrzeugbeschreibung
Up for bids is this stunning and exceptionally rare 1979 Porsche 930 3.3L 6 cylinder Turbo Coupe with 4 speed manual transmission, its original and absolutely gorgeous condition factory "Anthracite Grey" color paint and full black leather seats and interior, highly striking forged factory alloy wheels and factory added options including; M220;Limited Slip Differential ($590 added option), M261; heated outside right mirror ($110 added option), M409; left and front sport seats ($385 added option), M650; electric sliding sunroof ($850 added option), M389; Porsche CR Stereo (US Version), M391; Gravel Protection, M288; Headlight Washers, white roof liner, fog lights, rear window wiper, leather covered sport steering wheel, air conditioning and now being sold with an unbelievably low original 109K miles! The Porsche has its original tools and spare wheel still unused and stored in their rightful compartment under the hood! The car is completely factory stock and original!
Original dealers retail prices were sold well over sticker price for this as stated by Porsche as the last year of production for the turbo Porsche with Beverly Hills Porsche selling the most expensive model for a reported record $154k! This eminently collectible turbo-charged version of Porsche"s rear engine 911, so heavily re-engineered as to merit a seperate type number, the 930, with markedly flared front and rear wheel arches, wide tires (wider still in the rear) and a prominent tray-like spoiler that"s long been known as the "whale tail" among enthusiasts and soon to be recognized as the star performer of all Porsche production cars - here is one of the most collectible years available - the 1979 3.3 litre Turbo, last year of U.S. production until 1986. Porsche nevertheless did continue production of the Turbo Porsche in Europe in 1980 but did not import the car into the U.S. again until 1986.
After having been stored without being driven regularly for several years, the car was fully serviced at the renown The Auto Gallery of Calabasas, California. The service work included lube, oil & filter, replaced filters and spark plugs and adjusted valves. The fuel pump was replaced, the fuel filter cleaned and all lines and bad fuel removed from the tank. The tube seals were replaced. The fuel injectors were clogged up and removed and replaced; intercooler, filter housing, 6 injectors and all the lines cleaned and the distributor and mixture adjusted. The tires were recommended to be replaced but the owner declined due to the fact that they are the original Pirelli factory tires and original to the car and they are not unsafe.
Always garaged and covered, and told on good authority to have never seen rain and with absolutely no rust or any accident history of any kind ever; although there was an incident one summer where a hot barbecue was stored next to the car in the garage after use and the paint was very slightly blemished as a result on the passenger side rear fender (only noticeable upon close inspection). The car has none of the generally unavoidable freeway chips and scratches usually associated with these low profile sports cars.
The original 3.3L 6 cylinder renown bullet proof engine is extremely strong and very smooth running with as stated, an original actual 109K miles! The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and effortlessly through the gears with none of the typical synchro problems common in these early model years and the car drives exactly like a well maintained and cared for ultra-low mileage 930 Turbo should! The car does not burn oil or have any oil leaks.
Overall an extremely fine and rare example of this very desirable and collectible classic Porsche - the air-cooled 930 3.3L Turbo Coupe, probably the ultimate exhilirating Porsche driving experience with 4 speed manual transmission - increasingly hard to find in such great all original and unabused condition with all original service records and with unheard of original mileage!
